An increasing
number of American consumers are choosing to
retire abroad, an expert has revealed.
According to Kay Yabandith
of International Real Estate Magazine, many are
opting to become expatriates as they believe it
could save them money.
Specifically, she said a considerable amount of
older people from the US are interested in
taking advantage of lower living costs.
Furthermore, she stated that some nations also
offer favorable tax regimes that can reduce a
person's daily expenses by a significant amount.
Ms Yabandith commented: "International countries
offer many incentives for baby boomers to
purchase retirement homes abroad."
She added that members of the baby boomer
generation are "not afraid" to retire to
international countries.
This shows that the popularity of living away
from home is spreading across the world.
A similar trend in the UK was recently
highlighted by the Office for National
Statistics, which said a record number of
British nationals are now choosing to set up
home overseas.
